The world is ours for the taking
('Freedom Day' animation)
This animation is inspired by the emergence from our UK lockdown, the opening up of our hearts, minds and ... pubs! (The FREE in Free House, being the operative word).
All in anticipation of the UK's FREEDOM DAY!
The two characters at the front (child with dad) are in black and white and are contemplating stepping back into the world of colour. But there's trepidation. Is dad encouraging child to 'go for it' or is it the other way around? And look at what they're stepping into - stormy skies... but, don't worry, the sun is peeking through, and there's light at the end of each road. Which road to take? There's foreboding though for some, with the ending of lockdown, personified by the announcement by PM that V passports will be used.
Freedom has conditions attached.
When the lights are finally switched on, the shop displays an inviting, long awaited 'open' sign... perhaps the child is going to buy her lost teddy she's been wanting all over lockdown. Her scarf is the same colour as Teddy's bow after all. On the side of the big blue building are the words 'The World Is Ours For The Taking', the title of this picture. In the window on the 2nd floor is an older man looking up to the sky... is he afraid to step back out into the world, or is he just checking the weather? (From his vantage point he can't see the writing on the wall.)
